How this content gets written, sourced and checked.
Endurance training content is full of numbers repeated without a source. This page sets out the rules this site holds itself to, so you can judge whether to trust a figure before you train on it.

One named human writes everything
Every essay, guide and calculator explanation on this site is written by Breno Melo, Head Coach, Breno Melo Endurance Coaching, coaching full time since 2015. There are no ghostwriters, no contributor network and no unattributed posts.
AI tools are used for transcript cleanup, outline drafting and copy editing. They are never the final author: no page publishes without the coach reading it line by line and signing the byline.
Physiology claims cite the primary source
Where a page states a training or physiological fact — a formula, a threshold definition, a fuelling rate, a heat penalty — it cites the paper, textbook or governing-body publication the number comes from, not a secondary blog summary.
Every calculator lists the model it implements, the assumptions baked into it, the population it was validated on, and where it breaks down. If a number is an estimate, the page says so.
Coaching judgement is labelled as judgement
Plenty of good coaching is not settled science. Where a recommendation reflects practice rather than published evidence, it is written in the first person and framed as what has worked with real athletes — not dressed up as a research finding.
Anecdote is never presented as data, and single-athlete outcomes are never generalised into a success rate.
Claims we cannot evidence do not run
Performance statistics, qualification rates, athlete counts and outcome percentages are published only when they can be traced to records that exist. Anything that cannot be substantiated is removed rather than softened.
Testimonials come from named athletes who gave permission. No stock quotes, no composites, no invented names.
Pages are reviewed on a schedule, not left to rot
Every calculator and science-led guide carries a published date and a last-reviewed date with the reviewer's name. Reviews check that formulas still match their sources, that governing-body figures (Boston qualifying standards, race entry rules) are current, and that links still resolve.
Time-sensitive pages — qualifying standards, race cutoffs, entry requirements — are re-checked whenever the governing body publishes an update, and after each edition of the race.
Commercial content is separated from advice
Coaching and app pricing lives on clearly commercial pages. Guides and calculators may link to those pages, but the training advice does not change based on what is for sale.
There are no paid placements, no affiliate links and no sponsored posts on this site.
Corrections are made in the open
When a factual error is found, the page is corrected and its last-reviewed date is updated. Material corrections — a wrong formula, a wrong standard, a wrong figure — are noted on the page itself rather than quietly overwritten.
Found something wrong? Email breno@brenoamelo.com with the page URL and what you believe is incorrect. Support hours are monday to friday, replies within 24 hours, and clear factual fixes are actioned in that window.
Who reviews the content
Review is done by the author, whose certifications are issued by bodies with public directories you can check independently:
