Our standard
brenoamelo.com, the calculators, the client portal and the Apex web app are built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. That includes the criteria added in 2.2: focus not obscured, minimum target size, consistent help, redundant entry and accessible authentication.
What we do
- Every page is server-rendered, so content and navigation work without JavaScript.
- A “Skip to main content” link is the first focusable element on every page; headings follow a single-H1 outline; landmarks (
header, main, nav, footer) are present on every template. - Text contrast meets 4.5:1 and interactive controls 3:1 in both the dark (default) and light themes. The theme follows your system preference and can be switched in the header.
- All form fields — including the hours / minutes / seconds inputs on the calculators — have programmatic labels. Errors are announced and described in text, never by colour alone.
- Keyboard: all functionality is reachable with Tab / Shift+Tab / Enter / Escape; focus is visible with a 2 px ring; nothing traps focus. Fixed bars (cookie notice, call-to-action) are kept small and never cover the focused element.
- Motion respects
prefers-reduced-motion; there is no auto-playing video or audio. - Sign-in offers a magic link and Google sign-in as well as a password, so you never have to solve a puzzle or remember a credential to get in (WCAG 3.3.8).
- Automated checks (Lighthouse / axe rules) run against every template; the current scores are 94–100 and are tracked in our CI.
Known limitations
- Third-party embeds. The Calendly booking widget and Stripe checkout are provided by those companies; we have chosen them for their own accessibility conformance, but we cannot change their markup.
- Maps and live charts. Route maps and training-load charts in Apex are visual by nature. Each is accompanied by a text summary of the same data.
- PDF plan deliverables. Older training-plan PDFs may not be fully tagged. Ask and we will send the same plan as an accessible TrainingPeaks or calendar file.
- Spanish and Portuguese pages are shorter than the English originals and are being expanded.
