Marathon coaching FAQ

Do you coach marathon runners remotely?

Yes — 90% of athletes I coach are online. Plans run through TrainingPeaks or the in-house Coached app, auto-sync to Garmin, and check-ins happen by message, voice, or Zoom. Same coach, same week, anywhere in the world.

How long does marathon training take?

16 weeks works for repeat marathoners within range of their goal. 20–24 weeks is better for sub-3 attempts, first marathons, or aggressive PR jumps. We back-plan from your race date and load the base block first.

What's the difference between a marathon coach and a plan?

A plan can't tell you to skip Wednesday because your HR is elevated and you've slept 5h. A coach can — and rebuilds the week so the long run still lands. The plan changes; the goal doesn't.

Can you help me qualify for Boston?

Yes — 12 of my own BQs and dozens of athletes through. We run an 18-week BQ-specific build with Newton-hill simulation and a 5-minute time cushion. See /boston-marathon-coach for the program detail.

What does marathon coaching cost?
