How should I prepare for my first 70.3?

A first 70.3 requires comfortable swimming, sustainable cycling and a run you can manage after both. Build those skills alongside endurance, then practice fueling and transitions before race week. Choose an event and timeline that fit your starting point. A time predictor can organize split scenarios; it cannot assess whether you are ready.

What comes before a time goal?

Water confidence and basic handling are priorities. Open-water skills, sighting and safe group riding need practice rather than a pace calculation.

How do I pace the bike?

Use long sessions to find the effort at which fueling and the following run remain manageable. An impressive bike split is not helpful if it costs the run.

What should I practice in a brick?

Practice the transition and the opening run effort. Not every long ride needs a demanding run afterward. The purpose of the session should be clear.

What goes in the race plan?

Equipment, transitions, pace ranges, practiced fuel and a response to changing weather. Confirm the current athlete guide for supplies and cutoffs.
